Bill Gates Visits Rwanda to Explore AI Integration in Health Sector
Bill Gates, the founder and former CEO of Microsoft, is visiting Rwanda to observe the country's advancements in its health sector. Gates is particularly interested in Rwanda's integration of AI solutions in healthcare, a project supported by the Bill Gates Foundation in partnership with OpenAI. The initiative, known as the 'Horizon 1000 initiative,' aims to implement AI technologies across 1,000 primary health clinics and surrounding communities over two years. This $50 million program is designed to assist health workers by improving diagnosis, resource allocation, and decision-making processes within health systems. Gates has praised Rwanda's health transformation over the past 25 years, highlighting significant reductions in childhood mortality rates.
