Homewood Science Center Cancels STEM Saturday for Private Event
The Homewood Science Center has announced the cancellation of its weekly STEM Saturday session due to a private event, Girls STEAM Ahead, being held at the facility. This event is designed to promote science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) among young girls, providing them with an opportunity to engage in educational activities in a supportive environment. As a result, the science center will be closed to the public for the day. Additionally, the community is hosting several other events, including a benefit concert and art auction at St. John the Evangelist Church, with proceeds going to the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. The Chicago Southland International Film Festival is also taking place at Governors State University, showcasing international and local films over a three-day period.
