Gen X Employees Face Significant Caregiving Burdens, Leading to Workplace Stress and Burnout
A recent survey conducted by career resource website Zety reveals that Generation X employees are dedicating substantial time to caregiving responsibilities, which is contributing to increased workplace stress and burnout. The survey, which polled over 1,000 Gen X workers aged 46 to 61, found that nearly one in four respondents (22%) spend more than 16 hours per week on caregiving duties. This significant time commitment often leads to emotional demands that impact their professional lives. For instance, 37% of Gen X caregivers also support minor or adult children in addition to aging relatives. Among those with caregiving responsibilities, 54% reported experiencing stress and burnout at work, while 44% admitted to struggling with focus and productivity.
