Construction Begins on Second Anchor Park in Madison County, Enhancing River Access
Construction has commenced on a new park in Madison County's Perkinsville, Indiana, marking the development of the county's second 'anchor park' aimed at increasing river access. The park is situated on land owned by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and is funded by federal American Rescue Plan funds, with $4 million allocated between two parks. The project includes upgrades such as paving dirt roads, improving the existing boat ramp, and expanding the parking lot. Ben Orcutt, president of the Madison County Parks and Recreation Board, has expressed interest in connecting this park to another one located at Eighth Street Road and Layton Road, although no current plans or budget exist for such a connection.
