Air Force Veteran's Medical Experience Leads to Nursing Career Amid U.S. Shortage
Andrew Nydegger, a former Korean translator in the United States Air Force, transitioned to a career in nursing following a personal medical scare. Initially planning a career in law, Nydegger's path changed after a nurse practitioner diagnosed him with an adrenal tumor, a pivotal moment that inspired him to pursue nursing. After his medical discharge from the Air Force, Nydegger earned degrees in nursing and has been practicing since 2010. Recently, he was appointed as the dean of the College of Nursing at Westcliff University in California. Nydegger's military background provided him with skills such as leadership and critical thinking, which he finds applicable in his nursing career.
