Medicare Advantage and Medigap Plans Offer Free Senior Fitness Programs Nationwide
Many Medicare Advantage and some Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans are providing free fitness programs for seniors across the United States. These programs, such as SilverSneakers, Renew Active, and Silver&Fit, offer access to thousands of gyms and specialized fitness classes. SilverSneakers, a widely recognized program, grants unlimited free access to over 17,000 participating gyms, including national chains and local YMCAs, and offers classes like 'SilverSneakers Stability' focused on fall prevention. Renew Active, exclusive to UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage members, boasts an even larger network of over 25,000 locations and includes brain health tools like BrainHQ. Silver&Fit, available through select insurers, provides access to over 15,000 gym locations and offers home fitness kits for those who prefer to exercise outside of a public gym setting. These initiatives aim to combat physical falls and cognitive decline, which are significant concerns for the aging population.
