Kazakhstan and Singapore Sign Agreements on Water Management and Middle Corridor Development
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov met with Senior Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong to discuss strengthening trade, economic, and investment cooperation. The meeting focused on digitalization, artificial intelligence, and joint educational initiatives. Bilateral trade between the two nations approached $1 billion last year, with a 2.5-fold increase in the first six months of the current year, reaching $777 million. Foreign direct investment from Singapore into Kazakhstan doubled to approximately $1.5 billion in 2025. Following the discussions, two key agreements were signed: an agreement between Kazakhstan's Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise for a capacity-building program in sustainable urban water resources and waste management, and a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation in Multimodal Transport, Trade Facilitation, and Digitalization between Middle Corridor Multimodal Ltd and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise.
