Near-Record Heat and Weekend Storm Chances in Phoenix Area
Phoenix and much of south-central Arizona are experiencing dangerous heat conditions, with temperatures in lower-desert communities expected to approach 115°F (46°C) through the weekend. Extreme Heat Warnings remain in effect across the region, with significant heat risks anticipated, particularly during the afternoon and early evening hours. While thunderstorm chances are limited on Friday, isolated storms may develop over higher terrain. A weather disturbance moving in from Mexico this weekend is expected to increase moisture levels, bringing a higher likelihood of storms, especially in mountainous areas. Gusty outflow winds from these storms could lead to blowing dust, particularly in areas east and southeast of Phoenix, including Pinal County.
