Etihad Airways Expands China Network with Five New Routes, Boosting UAE-China Corridor
Etihad Airways is significantly expanding its network in mainland China by adding five new destinations from Abu Dhabi Zayed International Airport. The new routes include Shanghai Pudong, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen, complementing its existing service to Beijing Daxing International Airport. This expansion marks one of the airline's largest into a single market in recent years. Daily flights to Shanghai will commence on October 1, 2026, followed by daily service to Guangzhou starting March 4, 2027. Additional weekly flights to Hangzhou, Chengdu, and Shenzhen will also be launched in March 2027. The total service to China will increase from six to 35 weekly flights, operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The expansion is supported by Etihad's joint venture with China Eastern Airlines, enhancing coordinated services between China and the UAE.
