EPA Shuts Down Gan-He Mining Company for Environmental Violations
The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has ordered the shutdown of Gan-He Company Limited, a Chinese-owned mining firm in Ghana, due to persistent environmental violations. The company's operations, including its processing plant and underground dewatering activities, were halted as part of a nationwide compliance exercise. The EPA had previously issued directives for the company to address multiple environmental infractions, including discharging contaminated water and improperly managing tailings. Despite these directives, the company failed to implement the necessary remedial measures, leading to the enforcement action.
