UW-Madison Extension Weed Scientist to Lead 2027 Farmer Tour to Brazil for Agricultural Insights
Dr. Rodrigo Werle, a UW-Madison Extension Weed Scientist and native of Brazil, is organizing a second educational tour for farmers to Brazil from January 2-10, 2027. Following a successful trip in 2025, this nine-day tour aims to provide Wisconsin farmers with insights into high-intensity cropping systems and advanced agricultural technologies used in Brazil. The tour will cover key agricultural regions including São Paulo, Paraná, and Mato Grosso, focusing on intensive irrigation, multi-crop rotations, and the networks farmers rely on. Brazilian farmers in some areas achieve five harvests every two years. The initiative is designed for anyone involved in agribusiness or production agriculture, offering a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange and operational insights. Organizers are encouraging early reservations due to high demand.
