Illinois Patients Begin Receiving Experimental Pancreatic Cancer Drug
Patients in Illinois have started receiving an experimental drug, daraxonrasib, for treating pancreatic cancer. The drug, considered a breakthrough, extends the lives of patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer who have undergone previous treatments. In clinical trials, patients receiving daraxonrasib lived for a median of 13 months compared to six months for those on additional chemotherapy. The drug is not yet FDA-approved but is available under an expanded access program. The program allows eligible patients to receive the drug at no cost, providing hope for those with limited treatment options.
