Study Reveals Harmful Effects of Food Additives and Pesticides on Gut Health
A study conducted by researchers at the University of Cambridge has identified 168 chemicals that may negatively impact gut bacteria, which are crucial for digestion, immunity, and overall health. Published in the journal Nature Microbiology, the study examined how various chemical contaminants, including pesticides and food additives, affect 22 bacterial species. The findings suggest that these chemicals, found in everyday environments, can disrupt the balance of gut microbiota, potentially leading to health issues such as digestive problems, weight regulation challenges, and immune system dysfunction.
