AI-Assisted Search Helps User Recover $400K in Bitcoin
A pseudonymous user known as 'cprkrn' successfully regained access to a Blockchain.com wallet containing 5 BTC, valued at nearly $400,000, with the help of AI. The user had forgotten part of the wallet's password, changed while intoxicated in 2015. After attempting 3.5 trillion password guesses using the btcrecover tool, the breakthrough came when files from an old computer were uploaded to Anthropic's Claude AI, which identified an older wallet backup. This discovery allowed the user to decrypt the wallet using a mnemonic phrase.
