Jury Rules in Favor of Sig Sauer in Maine Detective's Lawsuit Over Pistol Malfunction
A federal jury has ruled in favor of Sig Sauer in a lawsuit filed by Somerset County sheriff's deputy David Cole, who claimed that the company's P320 handgun was defective after it discharged while holstered, injuring him. The jury found that Sig Sauer was not negligent and that the pistol did not have a defect when sold. The incident occurred in May 2022, and Cole alleged that the gun fired without him touching the trigger. Sig Sauer argued that a jacket zipper may have caused the discharge, and the holster did not adequately protect the trigger.
