Supreme Court Dismisses Florida's Lawsuit Against California Over Driver's Licenses
The U.S. Supreme Court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Florida against California, which accused the latter of issuing commercial driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants. The case arose after a fatal accident in Florida involving a truck driver, Harjinder Singh, who allegedly held licenses from California and Washington despite failing English proficiency tests. Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented, arguing that the court should have heard the case due to its implications on federalism and state accountability. The majority of justices, however, declined to grant Florida leave to file its complaint, leaving California and Washington's licensing practices unchanged.
