Los Angeles School District Implements Screen Time Limits Amid Parent Concerns
The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) has become the first major school district in the U.S. to mandate screen time limits for students. This decision comes in response to parental concerns about the negative impact of excessive screen time on children's health and academic performance. The new policy requires the district to establish screen time guidelines for each grade and subject, prohibits device use for students in first grade and younger, and allows parents to opt their children out of using technology at school. The resolution, passed by a 6-0 vote, aims to encourage traditional pen-and-paper assignments and reduce reliance on digital devices in classrooms.
