OpenAI's Atlas Browser Vulnerable to Security Breaches Affecting WhatsApp
Researchers from Zenity have discovered vulnerabilities in OpenAI's Atlas web browser that could allow attackers to bypass security measures and spam WhatsApp contacts or make unauthorized Amazon purchases. These findings were presented at the Black Hat cybersecurity conference. The vulnerabilities are part of a broader set of flaws found in AI-enabled browsers, which include products from major tech companies like Google and Microsoft. The researchers demonstrated how malicious instructions could be embedded in seemingly legitimate web pages, leading to mass phishing campaigns. Despite having robust security measures, Atlas was still susceptible to these attacks, highlighting significant security challenges in AI browser integrations.
