Philadelphia Christmas Village Alters Booth Access for ADA Compliance, Sparks Vendor Concerns
Vendors at Philadelphia's Christmas Village and Made in Philadelphia markets in Center City will no longer be permitted to allow shoppers inside their booths this holiday season. This change, announced by event organizer German American Marketing, is a measure to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). To achieve ADA compliance, sales counters and other barriers will be installed in most booths, making them inaccessible for shoppers to enter. Thomas Bauer, CEO of German American Marketing, explained that allowing shoppers inside would require 8-foot-long ramps for each booth, which is only feasible for a few wider booths.
