Michele Sison Appointed Director of IOM Global Office in Washington, D.C.
Michele Sison has been appointed as the Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Global Office in Washington, D.C., effective February 2025. Sison brings over four decades of diplomatic experience to this role, having served in various capacities across Africa, South Asia, the Middle East, Haiti, and Washington, D.C. Her extensive career includes serving as U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs from December 2021 to January 2025, U.S. Ambassador to Haiti from 2018 to 2021, and U.S. Deputy Representative to the United Nations from 2014 to 2018. She also held ambassadorial positions in Sri Lanka and Maldives (2012-2014), Lebanon (2008-2010), and the United Arab Emirates (2004-2008).
