Cyclospora Outbreak in Philadelphia Raises Concerns Among Shoppers
Philadelphia is experiencing a cyclospora parasite outbreak, with 13 confirmed cases reported by the city's Department of Public Health. The outbreak is linked to iceberg lettuce products by Taylor Farms, commonly used at Taco Bell. Despite the relatively low number of local cases, Philadelphia grocers and consumers remain vigilant. Michael Anastasio, a South Philly wholesaler, stated that there are currently no restrictions on produce purchases, but they would be notified by the USDA if issues arise. Shoppers, like Mount Airy resident Lola Figueroa-Clark, express concern over the parasite's impact on daily consumption of lettuce.
