FanDuel Reports Bill Simmons to Massachusetts Regulators for Proxy Sports Betting
FanDuel has reported podcaster and The Ringer founder Bill Simmons to the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) for admitting to using his daughter’s boyfriend to place proxy bets on the platform. Simmons detailed on his podcast how his daughter’s boyfriend, Hank, logged into his FanDuel account from Massachusetts to place wagers while Simmons was in California. Proxy betting is illegal in Massachusetts and violates FanDuel’s terms of service. Simmons stated he provided Hank with a code to access his account and place future wagers on teams like the Houston Texans and UCLA. The MGC spokesman, Thomas Mills, confirmed that the commission is aware of Simmons' comments and is currently reviewing the matter. FanDuel confirmed it took action consistent with its terms and conditions and MGC regulations, which included reporting the incident, voiding the bets, and taking action on Simmons' account.
