Mother Arrested in Miami-Dade for Child Abuse and Arson After Filming Incidents
Meliza Campos-Sanchez, a 26-year-old mother, has been arrested in Miami-Dade County on charges of child neglect, child abuse, and first-degree arson. Detectives viewed Instagram videos as evidence, which allegedly showed Campos-Sanchez pouring hot wax from a lit candle on her 3-year-old and 6-year-old daughters' hands. One of the children also reported witnessing their mother burn a shirt, which subsequently started a kitchen fire while they were inside the residence. Campos-Sanchez's husband, who had been staying with his parents, took custody of their daughters after she threatened self-harm and was at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. She was arrested at the hospital's emergency room and subsequently booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Campos-Sanchez, a Cuban national, faces four charges across two felony cases and has a hold by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
