House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer Sued by Leon Black Over Subpoenas in Epstein Investigation
Leon Black, former CEO of Apollo Global Management, has filed a lawsuit against the House Oversight Committee and its Chairman, Representative James Comer. The lawsuit seeks to prevent the enforcement of document and deposition subpoenas issued during Black's voluntary interview on June 26, 2026, as part of the committee's investigation related to Jeffrey Epstein. According to Black's complaint, initial discussions for the interview focused on public materials and his professional relationship with Epstein. However, during the interview, committee staff questioned Black about non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) he was party to and whether Epstein was involved with them. Black refused to answer, leading the committee to issue subpoenas demanding all NDAs he was involved with and requiring his appearance for a deposition on September 3. Black filed the lawsuit instead of appearing for the deposition, challenging the committee's authority to enforce subpoenas through civil litigation.
