Consumer Reports Identifies Cheapest and Most Expensive Grocery Stores in California
Consumer Reports has released a study ranking grocery stores in California based on their pricing compared to Walmart, the largest grocery retailer in the U.S. The study found that warehouse clubs like Costco and BJ's Wholesale Club offer the cheapest groceries, with prices significantly lower than Walmart. In contrast, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's are among the most expensive, with prices 39.7% and 24.6% higher than Walmart, respectively. The analysis was conducted in several metro areas, including Los Angeles, and considered the total price of grocery baskets containing packaged goods, produce, and meat.
