BRICS Agriculture Meeting in Indore Focuses on Global Food Security and Smart Agriculture
A five-day meeting of BRICS member countries commenced on June 9, 2026, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, focusing on critical issues such as food security, climate-friendly smart agriculture, agricultural trade, and farmer welfare. The conference, held under India's BRICS chairmanship, involves the Agriculture Working Group, which will deliberate until June 11, 2026. India's Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Secretary Atish Chandra led the inaugural session. The BRICS Agriculture Ministers are scheduled to meet on June 12 and 13. The meeting aims to address topics like nutrition, international agricultural trade, supply chains, digital agriculture, research, knowledge exchange, artificial intelligence, and robotics. A joint declaration is expected after the BRICS Agriculture Ministers reach a consensus.
