Coppertone Water Babies Lotion SPF 50 Earns Top Score in Consumer Reports Test
Consumer Reports has released its annual sunscreen ratings, evaluating over 100 products, including lotions and sprays, for their effectiveness in protecting against harmful UV rays. The tests measure SPF (sun protection factor) by applying sunscreen to small skin areas and exposing them to UVB rays, which cause sunburn and contribute to skin cancer. Water-resistant products are also tested after being soaked for up to 80 minutes. UVA protection, which guards against skin aging and cancer, is assessed by shining UV light through sunscreen-coated plates. This year, Coppertone Water Babies Lotion SPF 50 achieved a perfect score, while Eucerin Advanced Hydration Spray SPF 50 topped the spray category. Despite some products not meeting their labeled SPF, Consumer Reports emphasizes that any sunscreen is better than none.
