Louisiana Attorney General Targets Online Predators on Platforms Like Roblox
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has initiated a statewide crackdown on child sex predators, focusing on online platforms such as Roblox. This effort comes in response to a disturbing trend of predators using social media and gaming apps to exploit children. The crackdown has already led to numerous arrests, including a case where a registered sex offender was caught using voice-changing technology to impersonate a teenager on Roblox. Murrill highlighted the severity of the issue, noting that Louisiana is expected to receive 90,000 tips about online child exploitation this year. The state has processed 30,000 tips by the end of May, resulting in hundreds of arrests. Despite Roblox's claims of implementing extensive safety measures, the platform faces several lawsuits alleging it provides an environment conducive to predatory behavior.
