Salem Reporter and Keizertimes Announce Merger, Expanding Local News Coverage
The Keizertimes, a locally owned newspaper, is merging with Salem Reporter, effective September 1. This consolidation aims to provide more comprehensive and robust news coverage for both the Keizer and Salem communities in Oregon. Les Zaitz, owner and editor of Salem Reporter and publisher of the Keizertimes, announced the merger, expressing confidence that it will enhance the organization's capacity to deliver relevant news to readers. The final print edition of the Keizertimes is scheduled for August 28. Following the merger, Keizertimes reporter Krista Kroiss will join the Salem Reporter staff, continuing her focus on Keizer news, which will be published on Salem Reporter's website and newsletters. Robin Barney, former general manager of Keizertimes, will transition to advertising sales for Salem Reporter, and Justin Wilkinson from Keizertimes' production department will handle graphic design for the combined entity.
