DAV and Dexcom Launch Diabetes Resource Hub for Veterans to Address Health Challenges
Disabled American Veterans (DAV), in collaboration with Dexcom, has launched a new diabetes resource hub aimed at assisting veterans in managing the condition. This initiative is significant as 25% of veterans receiving care from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are affected by diabetes, with veterans being nearly twice as likely to develop the disease compared to the general population. The resource hub provides a centralized platform for veterans, caregivers, and advocates to access information on diabetes management, including risk factors, prevention strategies, and practical guidance on glucose monitoring and nutrition. The hub focuses particularly on Type 2 diabetes, which is prevalent among veterans. The VA recognizes Type 2 diabetes as a presumptive condition for veterans exposed to Agent Orange, facilitating access to disability benefits without the need to prove a service connection.
