Howard Community College Launches Engineering Innovation Center with $3.9 Million Donation, Student Secures Patent
Howard Community College (HCC) in Columbia, Maryland, has announced the establishment of the Thomas P. Clement Center for Engineering Innovation (TPCCEI). This initiative was made possible by over $3.9 million in donations from inventor Thomas P. Clement and artist Wonsook Kim, through the T&W Foundation. The announcement coincides with a significant achievement: HCC student Troy Murray has received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for his first invention, a hospital bedside storage device. The T&W Foundation has pledged $1.425 million over the next five years to support the TPCCEI, building on a previous $2.5 million donation in 2024, which was the largest single gift in the college's history. In recognition of this commitment, Howard Hall has been renamed T&W Foundation Hall.
