UN Tourism Celebrates Innovation in Marrakesh with Startup Competition Winners
The United Nations Tourism organization recently held the International Conference on Technological Innovation and Tourism Investments in Marrakesh, Morocco. The event highlighted the importance of innovation and investment in creating a more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable tourism sector. During the conference, winners of the National Start-up Competition were announced, recognizing advancements in digital tourism, leisure gaming, and Moroccan gastronomy. The overall winner, Beyond the Map, was praised for its use of augmented reality and AI to provide immersive cultural heritage experiences. Other notable winners included Mossika, which offers online music education, and Medina Mirage, recognized for its technology-driven dining experiences. The conference also introduced the Morocco National UN Tourism Startup Competition: Rural & Community Tourism Innovation Challenge, aimed at promoting sustainable tourism in rural areas.
