Speakers emphasized the need to embrace technology and innovation to sustain industries and support entrepreneurship. Liberty Coal CEO Hlayiseka M Chauke called for collaboration to overcome perceptions that Middelburg cannot compete in the energy transition. Seriti Resources' Tshegofatso Mashapu highlighted the importance of including workers in technological advancements to prevent job losses. The conference also addressed the need for a diversified energy approach, combining coal with renewable energy projects.
