NASA Opens New Wind Tunnel at Langley Research Center to Advance Aeronautics and Space Exploration
On July 31, 2026, NASA, alongside Virginia government officials, inaugurated the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. This marks NASA's first major new wind tunnel in over 40 years. The state-of-the-art facility is designed to support research and technology development that will further NASA's aeronautics, exploration, and science goals. This includes efforts to establish a sustained human presence on the lunar surface through the Artemis program and the development of a Moon Base. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by notable figures such as NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman and Virginia Lt. Gov. Ghazala F. Hashmi.
