Kaskaskia College Certifies 16 Students Through Workforce Empowerment Initiative
Kaskaskia College recently celebrated the achievements of 16 students who completed certifications through the Workforce Empowerment Initiative (WEI). The program, which has been in place since 2021, aims to provide educational opportunities to students who might not otherwise afford postsecondary education. It offers free tuition, fees, and materials, along with additional support such as transportation and childcare. The students received certifications in various fields, including carpentry, HVAC, nursing, commercial driving, and welding. During a ceremony, LPN student Nalani McClain shared her experience, highlighting the personal and academic support she received from WEI. Vice President of Student Services, Amy Zanton, emphasized the program's role in equipping students with essential skills and opportunities for today's workforce.
