Self-Proclaimed Americans Arrested for Trespassing in Japanese Zoo Monkey Habitat
Two men claiming to be American citizens were arrested at Japan's Ichikawa City Zoo after one of them, dressed in a full-body costume resembling a business suit and an emoji-style head, climbed into the habitat of Punch, a newborn monkey, and other Japanese macaques. The incident occurred on a Sunday morning, causing the animals to flee to safety. Zoo employees intervened, removing the intruder and restraining his companion, who was filming the event. The police were called, and both men were taken into custody on charges of forced obstruction of business, a charge typically applied to disruptive behavior in business environments. The men, aged 24 and 27, have not had their American citizenship publicly confirmed by investigators.
