German Court Rules Against Suno in AI Copyright Infringement Case
A German court has ruled that AI music platform Suno infringed copyright by using protected songs for training its AI model without permission. The Munich Regional Court found that Suno unlawfully processed and reproduced musical works represented by GEMA, a German licensing agency. This ruling marks a significant legal victory for creators, emphasizing that AI models built on copyrighted material without licenses are not protected under the law. Suno, which argued that its AI training constituted fair use under US law, is considering an appeal against the decision.
