SAMHSA Awards Over $42 Million to States for 'Treatment First' Model in Support of President Trump's Executive Order
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), has allocated $42.3 million in new supplemental funding to states and territories. This funding aims to advance President Trump’s Executive Order on Ending Crime and Disorder on America’s Streets and promote the 'Treatment First' model, which addresses homelessness and addiction. An additional $2 million has been awarded to the Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Network to support implementation. HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. stated that these investments are designed to move individuals from crisis into treatment and then into lasting recovery, stable housing, and employment, breaking the cycle of homelessness and addiction.
