NYC Warns Online Retailers to Stop Selling Illegal E-Bikes and E-Scooters
New York City has issued cease-and-desist letters to 42 online retailers, including major platforms like Amazon and Temu, demanding they stop selling illegally powerful e-bikes and e-scooters. The city law prohibits the sale of motorized vehicles exceeding certain weight and speed limits. The move comes after a fatal e-bike collision involving a 17-year-old and follows legislative efforts to enhance micromobility safety. Mayor Mamdani emphasized the need for compliance to prevent further accidents and ensure public safety.
