Erie County Sheriff Warns of Car Theft Surge in Clarence, New York
Erie County Sheriff John Garcia has issued a warning about a surge in car thefts targeting the Town of Clarence, New York. Between July 18 and 21, 11 vehicles were reported stolen, with most being recovered in Buffalo. The Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with the Buffalo Police Department, has made three arrests related to these thefts. The suspects, including two young adults and an adolescent, were found with key fob cloning devices, highlighting a new challenge in preventing car thefts. Sheriff Garcia has launched Operation Key Fob to recover stolen vehicles and apprehend thieves, resulting in 37 vehicle recoveries and 10 arrests so far.
