Former Canadiens star P.K. Subban has fulfilled a $10 million pledge to the Montreal Children’s Hospital, a commitment he made over a decade ago. This donation is part of the hospital's 'Unexpected Ways to Heal' fundraising campaign and is recognized as the largest philanthropic commitment by a professional athlete in Canada. The funds have significantly impacted approximately 100,000 children, according to the hospital's foundation. Subban, who first announced the pledge in 2015 while still playing for the Canadiens, faced personal and professional challenges in the years following the announcement. Despite skepticism and criticism, he remained committed to his promise. Subban emphasized that all the money raised through his foundation went directly to the hospital, underscoring the importance of philanthropy in supporting healthcare beyond government-funded basic care.
