BC Transit Partners with Spare to Enhance handyDART Service Technology
BC Transit is set to introduce new technology to improve the handyDART service, a door-to-door, shared-ride service for individuals unable to use conventional public transit. In collaboration with Spare, the new system will allow riders to book, manage, and track their trips via phone, online, or a mobile app. The technology aims to streamline the booking process, provide real-time updates, and enhance trip reliability. This initiative is part of BC Transit’s Custom Transit Solution Project, funded by the province of British Columbia and local government partners, with a total project cost of C$5.82 million (US$4.1 million). The rollout will begin in the Central Fraser Valley and Chilliwack, with plans to expand to other regions.
