Universities Implement Real-Time Security Centers to Enhance Campus Safety
Colleges and universities across the United States are increasingly adopting real-time security centers to bolster campus safety. These centers provide 24/7 monitoring and surveillance, utilizing advanced technologies such as AI and data analytics. Arizona State University (ASU) and Michigan State University (MSU) are among the institutions that have implemented these systems. ASU's Real Time Analysis Center uses over 3,000 strategically placed cameras to monitor its campuses, significantly reducing property crimes like bicycle thefts. Similarly, MSU's Security Operations Center employs a Genetec system that integrates video management with access control and intrusion monitoring. These centers act as 'virtual officers,' providing real-time information to assist police in responding to incidents more effectively.
