Norfolk County Council Member Denies AI Allegations Amidst Online Speculation
George Boyd, a newly elected member of the Norfolk County Council in eastern England, has been the subject of speculation that he is AI-generated. This rumor gained traction due to a lack of digital footprint and a campaign headshot that appeared to be AI-enhanced. Boyd has publicly refuted these claims, asserting his real existence and eligibility for election. The controversy was fueled by Grok, an AI chatbot, which suggested the image was likely AI-generated due to its polished appearance. However, it was later clarified that AI was used only to enhance the photo's background, not to create Boyd's image. Colin Sutton, chair of Reform UK's Waveney Valley branch, confirmed the use of AI for the background and vouched for Boyd's authenticity.
