Momenta Gains Approval for Level 4 Robotaxi Testing in Germany, Partners with Uber
Chinese autonomous-driving company Momenta has received a permit from Germany's Federal Motor Transport Authority to conduct Level 4 autonomous-driving tests on urban roads across the country. This marks the first time a Chinese company has obtained such authorization in Germany, allowing Momenta to align its safety validation standards with the European Union's regulatory framework. The permit is expected to enhance testing efficiency by eliminating the need for separate applications in each city. Momenta plans to launch robotaxi services in Germany, starting with Munich, in partnership with Uber Technologies. Uber has increased its investment in Momenta, holding approximately 1.19 million shares following Momenta's recent Hong Kong IPO.
