US Consumer Confidence Declines in July Amid Economic Uncertainty
The Conference Board reported a decline in the US Consumer Confidence Index in July, dropping by 1.4 points to 90.8 from June's revised 92.2. This marks the third consecutive month of decline in consumer confidence. The Present Situation Index, which assesses current business and labor market conditions, fell by 3.6 points to 114.9. Meanwhile, the Expectations Index, reflecting consumers' short-term outlook for income, business, and labor market conditions, remained unchanged at 74.7. The survey, conducted from July 1 to July 22, noted that consumer appraisals of current business conditions and the labor market softened. Despite this, expectations for household incomes remained optimistic, although slightly moderated.
