Latino Officers to Become Largest Racial Group in Chicago Police Department

This change reflects the broader demographic shifts in Chicago, where the Latino population has grown significantly. Data from the city's Office of Inspector General indicates that the number of Latino officers has increased by over 40% since 2017, while the number of white officers has declined. This transition marks a departure from the department's historical composition, which was predominantly white.
