Oklahoma Evaluates Feasibility of Nuclear Power with DOE Initiative
The Oklahoma Corporation Commission has released a study assessing the feasibility of commercial nuclear power in the state. This comes as Oklahoma is named a finalist for a U.S. Department of Energy initiative to establish a Nuclear Lifestyle Innovation Campus. The study, mandated by a Senate Bill, examines nuclear safety, workforce development, and environmental impacts. It highlights the potential for Oklahoma's existing energy workforce to transition into nuclear careers with additional training. However, any nuclear project would require extensive federal licensing and public approval before proceeding.
