Governor Wes Moore to Debate Republican Challenger Dan Cox in October
Maryland Governor Wes Moore is scheduled to debate his Republican challenger, Dan Cox, in a televised event in October. Both campaigns confirmed the debate, which will take place on Maryland Public Television on October 6th. This upcoming debate marks a rematch between the two candidates, who previously faced off in the 2022 gubernatorial election. Governor Moore's campaign spokesperson, Carter Elliott IV, expressed satisfaction that Cox accepted the challenge. Conversely, Cox stated his desire for more debates, arguing that Marylanders deserve additional opportunities to hear from both candidates before and during the voting period. Governor Moore is seeking a second term, aiming to replicate his significant 2022 victory margin. Recent polling in August indicates Moore holds a substantial 27-point lead over Cox. Furthermore, Moore's campaign has amassed a considerable $8 million war chest, significantly outweighing Cox's approximately $130,000.
