Survey Reveals Nearly 1 in 4 Americans Lack Emergency Funds, Women Most Affected
A recent survey conducted by the Harris Poll for the AICPA during Financial Literacy Month has highlighted a concerning trend in the financial preparedness of Americans. The survey found that nearly 22% of Americans have no emergency savings, with women being disproportionately affected. While 78% of adults have some savings for living expenses, the amount varies significantly. The survey revealed that 20% have less than three months of expenses saved, and only 18% have a year or more. The data also showed that older adults, particularly those over 65, are more likely to have substantial savings compared to younger age groups. The survey underscores the financial vulnerability of many households, especially in the face of rising living costs and economic uncertainties.
